But blaming the unions for egregious mistakes made by mgmt is either the height of stupidity, or is just another example of you speaking from your ideological playbook

My post showed in fairly precise terms how the union contracts, negotiated pursuant to legalized extortion tactics, brought the American auto industry to its knees. There was no "ideology" involved in the post.

Not improving cafe standards was the decision of mgmt, not the unions. Not having a well rounded market offering.....SUVs AND gas efficient cars was a decision made by mgmt, not the unions. Poor car design and quality is the responsibility of mgmt, not the unions.

In fact, capitulating to union demands was the fault of mgmt, not the unions.

Until Mullaly moved over to Ford and Obama stepped in with GM and Chrysler, the American auto industry was commanded by a number of weak suits who couldn't get out of their own way.

Unions contributed to the problem but ultimately the blame, as with any organization, rests at the top. If only your ideology allowed you to see the logic of that premise.

Frankly, if anyone is stupid for engaging in this conversation, its Don trying to have one with you. You are so steeped in your ideology you can't see the forest for the trees. You are so misguided you think Bush was a great president and that fracking with all its toxic chemicals is a non threat to the environment. You still love the fact we invaded Iraq despite its outrageous cost in American lives and monies. You go on and on about American exceptionalism when in fact in key areas like life span and health care, America is hardly exceptional at all.

Not one word of this nonsense has anything to do with the American automakers collapsing.

No, but it explains the paradigm you bring to any discussion re. the American auto industry.

You become outraged when I ask why Arkansas is so poor relative to other states but you never bother to answer the question or think through why that might be true.

Well, we may be poor. But we have lower unemployment than your state. Lower foreclosure rates than your state. 1/3 the per-capita debt that your state has (ranking 20th vs. 36th in the country). Arkansas is ranked 10th in the nation as to the total outstanding debt, versus 46th for WA state. Ranks 14th vs 24th for your state for economic outlook. And only slightly below WA in economic performance

Interesting and positive metrics.....and yet, Arkansas is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to per capita income and educational attainment:

census.gov

How come?

Frankly, I'm not quite sure exactly BY WHAT METRIC you find Arkansas to be "poor".

See links above.
