Hopefully you and the writer with whom you seem to agree, will abandon that and join me in peace, light, harmony, happiness, health, prosperity, longevity, fun and love. <we would have to collectively and voluntarily turn our backs on our brutal, predatory, exploitive, profligate, military, criminal, sociopathic way-of-life to instead embrace “a radical new ethic of simplicity and rigorous protection of our ecosystem”. > Go on, turn your back on it right now. You don't have to live that way for another minute. STOP RIGHT NOW.
And it's not a new ethic. Many people have adopted such philosophy.
With continued economic growth, and billions of people enjoying the benefits of modernity too, we'll be able to really get things going well. If we can quintuple global GDP, people will enjoy much more happiness too.
The mistake most doomsters make is to think that GDP increase means more dirty great SUVs roaring around 6 lane freeways at 70 miles an hour. Economic growth doesn't mean more SUVs. More Cyberspace devices, content and inventive transport systems such as Google has test driven now for hundreds of thousands of kilometres are ways to increase GDP. Making photovoltaics is GDP growth. Turning methane into gasoline is GDP growth.
Growth growth growth ... economic improvement is good. More money for less work is excellent. There is no limit to economic growth.
