"Too many posts a day makes it less useful. So if active members grow to 10 times current active members, that could be a problem."

must be a way to set a daily limit in the software to say 10 posts a day. Then people won't waste their posts on one line knee jerk reactionary posts and this by default would limit 'bickering' ...jmo It would also limit off topic conversations that no one else is interested in reading, like hockey and football scores and such discussions on threads for stocks etc. I've been suggesting this for years. If a person can't express his/her daily revelations in 10 posts then they should take some Imodium. It would also put a gag on people who feel that their opinions are worth more than anyone elses and so they try to dominate certain threads with their superiour wisdom. I truly believe the site would be more egalitarian if the thread dictators were weeded out, a limit put on daily posts so that real actual thought would be published.

Excellent thoughts JP Morgan. Had to bold highlight it.

People bitch and complain about stockhouse, but you know what, i've bookmarked some very credible posters over there that literally kick butt. And yes, it's all about QUALITY and some folks i follow might not post for a few days, even a week or so at a time, but when they do show up their postings are well worth it packed full of knowledge/insights.

SI should strive for QUALITY of postings.....NOT quantity.

Thank goodness i can scroll thru 100 posts at a time at SI, its literally been a savior for me (wish SH would implement it). The quick one liners & O/T posts on stock threads gets way out of hand with a pile of useless garbage to put it bluntly.

If i want to IGNORE someone i want them to disappear totally on SI, just like SH. I want their empty box to disappear entirely on SI but that does not happen, the empty box is still there which still counts as a post....a waste of bandwidth IMO. It's all about efficiency to cruise through the threads - speed is of the essence - many have busy lives to lead outside these boards.

SI needs to get up to speed and get rid of the ancient HTML tags. Keeping it simple but more poster friendly to copy/paste articles/maps/tables etc; in their original format. I use the software JING that Cheeky (SI Ron) has given SI members a "heads up" for quite some time, but SI needs to compliment that site just the same with the simple stuff. I can site many examples of totally useless posts of "market depths" per stocks of numbers rammed together which make no sense - why not add some features to make posting more user friendly? SH and other sites win in that department hands down.
