Sadly, the Hollywood leftists used the bumbling, uncooth, and semi-educated character of Archie Bunker to portray decent American values as distasteful, while at the same time cleverly advocating communism and multiculturalism in thinly-veiled stories.
Each time Archie ranted, raved, and derided "communist pinkos," the show's writers and its producer (leftie Normal Lear) were actually placing viewers in the position of associating those who make statements against communism as distasteful and imbecilic outcasts. Meanwhile, Archie's communist-sympatizer son-in-law, Mike, was skillfully cast as an innocent victim of Archie's incessant badgering and as a man of high-intelligence and strong virtues; this despite the fact that Archie was completely supporting him financially and otherwise.
For decades, such tactics have been part of the left's relentless strategy to attack decency, normalcy, and capitalism. Many such themes were evident in numerous television shows produced and promulgated by leftists. -ng- |
