Agreed that bans should also have an automatic expiration, but my preference is for a rolling 365 expiration, instead of an annual purging. Not that we don't all become better people at the start of each new year, but that peoplemarks/ignores/bans are a good quick and dirty way of assessing an unfamiliar poster. And my cynical side fears that some folks will do outrageous things knowing that their banning will be brief.

I also want to be able to keep tabs on posters whose writing I enjoyed in the past, should they again grace us with their presence.
