Oh yeah, and I HATE the BAN feature.

I'm actually not a fan of it either. It was implemented in 2004 (during my 12 year hiatus), I believe as a way to offload admin responsibilities to the Subject owners. But it is too easily used as a weapon...ignoring is more of a passive approach that doesn't stifle anyone's ability to speak.

On the other side, some members want to take Moderation further and have the ability to DELETE posts...where do you draw the line between Admin and Subject Moderating?

Do we want to keep Subject-level Moderators at all, and if so what should their abilities be? Just changing the Subject intro?

An alternative would be to have more global or forum-level Admins who don't have an axe to grind or play favoritism...the subject owner would start a subject with a small set of RULES, and if violated could report them to the admin police for arbitration.

Forum Admins could be volunteer positions that people run for, and can be fired from. Ron and I would oversee the admins to make sure there wasn't any abuse of power going on. Forum Admins could issue warnings, ban users from a particular subject, suspend all posting ability for X days, etc...but only in response to a clear, *deliberate* violation of a Subject's rules.
