Obama is bright enough to capitalize on the fact that the Republicans allowed their party to be taken over by a bunch of fiscal extremists who are willing to put the country at risk to prove some sort of point.

Obama taught Constitutional Law. I think he is just giving the GOP all the rope they want. He knows his options.

I just hope Obama sees clearly his advantage and is willing to push it.

There is a part of Obama that is very responsible and tries to do what's best for the country......even when it means 'squashing' on his own wishes. Its this instinct to go for compromise rather than threaten the Union that so infuriates the left. For now, I think he needs to subliminate his instincts and go for broke.
