fred, Do you have any citations to back up any of this hooey? The US is over budget and the President offered it up as a cut precisely because Republicans have normally supported space missions (if not specific NASA administrators). If someone was being cynical - they would argue he is hitting NASA so hard because its major centers are in heavily Republican jurisdictions (Texas, Alabama and Florida). Astrophysicists throughout the west face budget cuts - lest any solar physics question any aspect of the belief system in AGW. btw - I thought this was a technical thread not a place to bash on politics.
