I am not endorsing this AT ALL, but Elenin has become the center of an entertaining conspiracy hoax (I won't even give it the status of a conspiracy "theory")

Conspiracy aside, I still think there might be something unusual about this comet that might produce some surprising effects in the September/October timeframe. If we get another big earthquake or CME during the next alignment, we can expect the hysteria to really take off.

Here's some background on the electric universe theory of comets:

According to the electric universe theory, the electric charge on a comet that has been out of the solar system for thousands of years is MASSIVE relative to its size. Is it possible the close fly-by of Elenin to the sun will evoke a reaction, like a static discharge when you touch someone after scooting around on the carpet? If this reaction takes the form of a CME blast from the sun, just when Earth is in the line of fire, it could knock out our power grid for months.
