you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill, as usual. Your article is factually incorrect. Here's a quote from your article:

That's $1.39 per light bulb for a CFL bulb that lasts 5-10 times as long as an incandescent bulb. In addition, what people don't talk about as much is that incandescent light bulbs are HOT, whereas CFLs are much cooler. If you have a house full of lights with a family that is not very good at turning off lights, like mine, then it costs more money to cool and more money to keep the lights on. CFLs are simply more technologically efficient and more cost effective, by every measure. So if you want to rail against technology and the future, at least get your facts straight.
Honestly, were you one of those people that used to say the Internet was just for nerds when the Internet was first taking off? Sheesh. Sometimes the shortsightedness of some Americans simply exasperates me.
BTW, LEDs are just taking off now and they are very expensive. I imagine that is another technology that you will rail against and say that the prices will never come down. But as with all technology, the prices always come down. LEDs will win out over most other forms of lighting, in my opinion. CFLs will be a short stop between incandescents and LEDs. |
