Very few of these "nostalgic" articles bother to mention the 800,000 or so Jewish people who were expelled from Arab lands in the late 40s, early 50s and had their homes, their money and businesses taken away from them and destroyed or taken over by others. Nothing to go back to and no compensation. Not even a whisper of compensation. Nor do they mention the political oppression in Arab countries that the "Arab Spring" is attempting to address. I will be among the first to say that the record in Israel is unblemished. But it is far from the worst in the region. Very far.
