Correlate this: From Spencer F. Katt zdnet.com
Elsewhere in the Microsoft vs. the World battle, El Gato's minions are starting to hear some noise about the motives of a research house announcing preliminary results of a survey that severely disses Java. The timing of the report caused one Sun-drenched Katt crusader to look under the covers, and guess what? Microsoft is listed as one of the company's clients. So far, the research company is mum on whether the Redmondians underwrote the survey.
I ran across this yesterday, but it took a little searching to find it again:
Java developers: Losing their religion? www2.computerworld.com
Two-thirds of Java developers say they are losing faith in the promise of highly touted "write-once, run-anywhere" programming language. They say they are frustrated with having to test Java code on multiple platforms and virtual machines to ensure that it works, a new study shows.
The study, by Market Decisions Corp. in Portland, Ore., was based on a random sample of 151 developers and has a margin of error of8%, the company said.
And various other bad news, somewhat at odds with current reporting and in the spirit of various company lines. Whowhere convieniently locates Market Research as www.mdcresearch.com, and their homepage proudly proclaims:
Please look further and discover why companies like Microsoft, Nike, Nationwide Insurance, Weyerhauser, Hewlett-Packard, and hundreds of other businesses and consultants put their trust in Market Decisions Corporation.
So, looks like this is it. Always good to see Microsoft commissioning research to get the "truth" out.
