RE: Consulting- Your view about consulting being a 2 bit move - By aquiring DMR and TRECOM, Amdahl picks up 2 companies with a decent reputation. TRECOM has soem very large accounts in telecommunications and is growing. Our very at TRECOM is that they (AMDAHL/DMR) has dumped some of their managment over here to see how we are run. TRECOM has been a good employer with good people.... The owners of TRECOM are "offically" running the show...... Consulting to some extent is for the "displaced" worker, but it is also a good way for experienced professionals to make some extra $$$ and a GROWING business. They competition for good professionals here on the EAST coast is crazy. ALOT of major companies are turning to consultants as a way of keeping the employee head count down. AMDAHL actually has a good rep for service - especailly with USPS etc, the rest may be another story. AGAIN.... if AMDAHL doesn't suck the cash out of TRECOM and DMR and bleed them to death.... The best move would be to spin off DMR and TRECOM as one package.... definitely worth more than 9-10 on THEIR OWN! As far as YEAR 2000 goes.... it is more BS than it is. But there will be problems. Consulting. More problems, more money. What a great world.
