Even with the lower gold prices it would be quite a wealth stimulator for a temporary basis. What would actually happen is congress would place us back on the gold standard for a few years before they overspent by tragic percentages and soon we would be in the very same boat we are in today.

We need to have politicians who don't believe their primary job is to spend money and be re-elected. Now where would we find them? They would be more rare than a golden asteroid and equally difficult to exploit.
