I think you've both got it wrong. I'm an agnostic, because I admit I don't KNOW if there's a God. Not only that, if there was a God that I could understand enough to worship, that alone would render Him too small, and not worth worshiping!

Besides, if you look at the totality of religions, past and present, all different, all conflicting - they can't ALL be right! One God seems no more advanced than a pantheon to me. There's a panoply of creatures on this Earth, it seems like there would be a pantheon of beings beyond our ken, if there were ANY.

I see atheism as superior to religion, which is, after all, just today's primitive superstition. But agnostic is the correct, scientific position.
