I looks like they will test the mid-4s. Stock is now at 5.01, down well over 4% on the day, and down about 15% in just the past couple of weeks, since the FP3 announcement. Doesn't make a whole lot of fundamental sense to me, but so it goes.

Aims to tap the market for rising broadband demand in China

China Telecom has entered into a contract with Alcatel-Lucent to leverage its Service Router portfolio to upgrade its network capability and prepare for next-generation 100-Gigabits broadband networks.

The chinese telco will use the 100G technology to meet the increasing demand of broadband connections and access to high-bandwidth content, such as video applications, in China.

The company will employ Alcatel-Lucent's 7750 Service Routers and 5620 Service Aware Manager portfolio to increase overall data speeds and support the prioritisation of different kinds of internet traffic including video, applications and voice.

Alcatel-Lucent noted that 43% of all new broadband connections worldwide came from China in 2010, and with China Telecom looking to upgrade its broadband network to 100-Gbps capabilities, this deployment is expected to help achieve that.

Alcatel-Lucent said the100G offering will support China Telecom network in handling tasks such as the transfer of 100,000 MP3 files in 60 seconds or the concurrent live streaming of over 15,000 HDTV channels.

China Telecom notes that Alcatel-Lucent offerings will ensure its network's service quality and allow it to upgrade to 100G in the future.
