COMDEX, LAS VEGAS, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Demonstrating for the first time ever, Margi Systems today unveiled the first mobile DVD PC Card solution at Fall Comdex. Designed for mobile professionals who use their notebooks for advanced presentations, such as with sales field force automation, interactive marketing or training applications, Margi's DVD -to-Go is a ZV-compliant, PCMCIA type II card, that integrates DVD decoding technology to deliver broadcast quality DVD video playback as well as synchronized Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

Technical Superiority
Margi's DVD -to-Go offers superior technical design that enables mobile professionals to take advantage of newly developed DVD applications. In addition to decoding DVD digital files, Margi's DVD -to-Go will also decode and playback MPEG-2 video, Dolby AC3 audio and CSS encrypted media, which provides added flexibility and performance for those who use a wide variety of multimedia applications.
With Margi's DVD -to-Go card, all zoomed video (ZV)-compliant notebooks can be a mobile DVD player. By using the card, DVD files are played back at 30 frames per second with full color, providing broadcast quality video and "better than" CD quality sound. The Margi DVD -to-Go card also fully synchronizes Dolby Digital Surround Sound with DVD video files to provide a total "theater" experience from a notebook.
With video throughput of up to 20Mbits per second, the Margi DVD -to-Go card ensures smooth DVD playback. Another feature of using the DVD -to-Go card is that is has low CPU utilization, allowing mobile professionals to multitask while running DVD and multimedia applications.
In addition, the Margi DVD -to-Go card is Hot Plug-and-Play capable, which allows users to insert and remove the PC Card without restarting the notebook or closing the application.
Availability, Pricing and Warranty Margi's DVD -to-Go PC Card will be available through distributors and corporate resellers starting January, 1998. The estimated street price for Margi's DVD -to-Go card is $349. The DVD -to-Go PC Card is fully tested and supported on most leading notebooks.
