My best baseball buddy, who has spent years in Toronto coaching/teaching baseball to kids for over 25 years, is one of those huge Yankee fans. Phones me 2 or 3 times a week to talk baseball...and his Yankees. My theme is Yankees are long in the tooth and Jays, my team, are locked and loaded with young talent.

Interestingly he is recently beginning to come around on the Jays exciting brand of baseball. I suspect that next year, if not in the 2nd half this year, he'll come around to the notion that teams like the Nats, Indians and Jays, regardless of payroll discrepancies, are really close to becoming seriously competitive, if not there already (at least the Jays with whom I'm very familiar are)..

Just finished watching the Thames and Snider show, supported by some serious Morrow pitching and a super game by Encarnacion (filling in for Bautista and his injured ankle) as Jays knocked off Yankees again tonight 6 to 1!

If it's not apparent, I can't tell you how much the addition of 2 left-handed bats, (Snider and Thames) in a lineup that was sorely lacking from the left side of the plate, have added to this lineup! They can hit and they can run! Fun to watch!

Man, I'm really enjoying the Jays these days!
