I suspect there is a migratory gene: <Am transiting at Munich airport, onward to Marseilles then a car trip of 90 min. > From a young age [childhood] the idea of being a nomad appealed to me. In recent decades I learned how migratory my ancestors were. I have always been migratory by choice.

Haplotype measurements shows how migratory people are in general.

The propensity to migrate is correlated causally with investment approaches. Also with intelligence. 'Wandering Jews' is genetically associated with both intelligence and investment style. Intelligence measures the ability to solve problems. Solving problems is what people have to do when they live a migratory life. Those not so good at solving problems fail and are removed from the gene pool.

Which is not to say that those who stay put don't have problems to solve. But the problems are different.

Something can probably be concluded. That there is a territorial stay-put gene too for example. They won't be budged. They will stand and fight.
