Nick: I sat next to a man in sales for Macrovision on my way home to Dallas from Mexico City. Ergo, they have international sales. He is sort of a 'hired hand.' That is, he has worked all over the silicon valley/computer world, gets tired of one...will work for whomever pays the best...incl stock options. Says he 'doesn't follow any stocks.'
Hmmmmmmmmm.
Anyway, you guys are so tunnel focused on the DVD part of this company. When I asked him what his company did, he replied that it was strictly an R&D company: they developed software and sold it. No operations. So how their DVD does depends (what illiteration!!) on the company that bought it (noted in previous post), and on what else they have to sell and its viability. I suspect they want to run a company something like TMO.
Also, very few are expected to jump in and buy DVD this year....lots of problems with compatibility and recordabity. A standards committee met for 12 yrs...and after all their gab, the usual DVD is not computer compatible!!!! Of all the stupid.....so I'm not even convinced that the DVD you see now is the DVD of next year, or ever.
I think MVSN has potential, but I don't see anyone on this thread really delving into exactly what the company does, earnings records (since it has been around since the 80's, etc. Remember, short term gains are taxed at 39.6%....momemtun isn't everything.
Just musing....
