Let's just turn the public school system into day-care centers and let all the kids fend for themselves as far as the three R's.

I'm a little confused as to the point of this diatribe. Is it saying that cheating is justified? If that's the case let's just all get out there and try to get over on the system.

“Is it any wonder that a school district in hard economic times fought back against the sanctions of failure in the only way they could?”

This was going on for a decade, well before the hard economic times. This doesn't sit well with me. Just give 'em a pass because cheating was the only way they could succeed. If cheating is OK in the schools then we certainly don't need teachers anymore. Just replace them with nannies and we can save a whole bunch of $$$.
