I think there was just no water up there and to far away to qualify for a placer mine. So that valley was not mined. The other creek on either side have water feeds from "up mountain" and "other areas" You can then look on the yukon publication site and see of the 10 of so miners that mined what type of gold they found. Not just amounts but shape to see how far it traveled. I really am using this as an experiment to see if I can use the placer miners as a big sampling program. :) For example. North and the end of black creek. Not much was found. I would then not buy those juniors. :)
Anyway. I speculate the deposit is "right there" and they just missed the mother lode all those years.
