freeus: I didn;t mean to but in, but I wanted to be the first with the answer to your question about lavalamps. A lavalamp is not really a good lamp to read by, it is more of a decorative and courious object.
It is constructed of a base that contains a low wattage bulb that puts off heat. A sealed glass container sits on top of the base, the glass container contains two different types of substances. A lighter fluid substance, like water, and some heavier matierial that normally does not float, and sits, like a liquid silly putty, at the bottom of the sealed glass container. When the device is plugged in, and the bulb turned on, it slowly heats the silly putty substance until it floats to the top, in differnt shapes inside the water. This goes on until the lamp is shut off. The lamps can be purchased with different color fluid inside, allowing the user to pick the glow. The lamps are psycadelic (spelling) and resemble a volcano spitting up globbs of stuff inside the enclosed liquid filled glass.
In other words, you have to get a lavalamp hot to make it work!
C'mon you should know, most men and woman are built that way, aren't they?
