ElM, the way of the world, everywhere, until recent decades in most places and for only a century or two in a very few others, was conquest, genocide, confiscation, breeding, and on again to greater victories, as far as the horse could walk.

The British were just part of that way of life, the Malthusian rule, just like everywhere else which had to contend with constantly burgeoning populations and no local self-contained means of survival.

<Blame the Dutch and British for making thieving way to riches. Those pirates stealing gold and silver form Spanish and Portuguese enventually financed old Europe. >

But stealing gold didn't make Europe great. The success came from creative people with energy in capitalist ideology. The gold just determined who got the main benefits of that success. Some could steal gold from Aztecs, and thereby get a share of the Eurowealth without doing useful work.

Gold is just a dumb metal. It is not wealth. It is not money - Big Ben was right the other day when he corrected Ron Paul.
