The summer palace was not humble beginnings: <it appears you have humble beginnings. good to know.> Those wealthy inheritors of the outcome of a century of riot, war, carnage enjoyed quite a party until Chairman Mao's totalitarian conquerors took over and dumped China into the "Great Leap Forward", relegating the once privileged to share pig sties with pigs, transferring the privilege to Mao's mates who still revel in it in a closed club.

China has recreated the old China from hundreds of years ago when totalitarian rulers bossed everything with the peasants being allowed to have indulgences if they mind their manners and tug their forelocks to the serf drivers. It is not quite dynastic yet, but give that a little time to come through in the dog eat dog and human eat dog world of China's political power process. North Korea is already dynastic.

History is far from finished in China.

TJ is well positioned and enjoys the favours of China's rulers [have you ever seen a hint of criticism of China's rulers?] just as his English educated grandfather did. When China chucked out the British, clearing the way for the carnage which followed as Japan swooped in, that was a very big blunder. He broke ElM's rules and China and Chinese paid the price:

<I don't take what does not belong to me >
The communists took everything.
<I respect the people who know more than I do. >
The arrogance of ignorance leads to grand horrors.
<I am grateful for people who taught me what I know >
Educated in England's realm and learned much.
< I don't spit in the plate I ate >
China does not adhere to ElM's Virtuous Victorian Values rules. Cannot be great.

France is China's summer palace.
