here's an interesting post from the comment section of The New Republic website: This grandstand move by the Republicans today is just another example of their governing style: propose a bill or deal, and if Obama agrees with any part of it, reject it! They vote down their own bills in the House! I've been studying many nations and their histories since the Fifties, and I've never encountered this type of insanity. Grover Norquist, who has the thinking style of a Bolshevik (no compromise on anything) and the fanatic Christian Right have poisoned a once decent party beyond recovery. I think it has something to do with the millennium and the predicted end of the world in 2012. Fasten your seat belts; it's going to be a bumpy ride!
