I think writing at the money or just in the money calls for an underlying stock is probably about the safest thing one can do, as least the risk is reduced to minimal as long as you can hold the underlying stock from month to month regardless of what it does... in the long run, it makes no difference what the stock does because over time you'll make excellent money with those written covered calls...
