I dunno koan...

It is a pretty new idea to me.

Obviously the concept has been bantered around for some time, but with Friedman endorsing it and the internet angle being explored, at some level, I am open to it.

I think it goes without saying that the 2 party system is dysfunctional at this point, and the countries problems are real and in need of real solutions.

These solutions do not seem to be available under the current structure.

Maybe all we need is the threat of a third way.

I do think that by allowing the players to set priorities that are not what the governed are demanding that a fundamental change of some sort is called for.

Americans are not preoccupied with the deficit. It is a secondary issue to employment, the lack of which will destroy us.

The current debate not only totally ignores this existential fact, the proposed solutions, by both parties will only aggravate that issue.

It may not be a problem of his making but so far Obama has been unable to bring adequate focus on what the country needs to survive.

And he has been one of the more capable Democrats in the mix.

We can ignore the lunatic ramblings of the GOP. They are not interested in the well being of the country.

That sorta forces, in my opinion, the necessity to look outside the current system, assuming we are interested in the US continuing as a going concern.

I do believe that if there is some sort of initial opinion gathering for a third party, it behooves folks who think like we do to not only be aware of it, but to make damn sure the values that we are concerned about are woven into its bedrock.
