Ideology of any kind is a scary thing. Whether it is Republican ideology that makes it impossible to negotiate for higher taxes or Democrat ideology that imposes unreasonable environmental requirements on businesses. Ideology is something to be avoided. We need to get back to practical solutions that balance both sides of the equation. That kind of rational thinking has been lost to ideology on both sides. This is why I think this country is ripe for a centrist 3rd party. There are boatloads of practical people just like me who are sick and tired of the extremism of both the left and right in this country.
