It does say something that he's been in politics since 1984 and he's never lost a race, as state representative, ag commissioner, or governor. The longest serving governor in TX history or in the US. He's not an idiot.

Perry declared this upcoming day of prayer, August 6, back on June 6. June 6 I believe is just before people started talking about Perry as a Presidential candidate. Funny, August 6 turns out to be the deadline on the debt deal ... did Perry know that in early June? Sunday morning, I listened to a youth minister / missionary to Haiti describe his efforts to organize getting people to this prayer conference. I bet this day of prayer (called by Gov. Perry) has been or will be mentioned from the pulpit of every evangical Bible-believing church in the country. I think Perry is going to own their votes. The vocal opposition of liberals in the press and the lawsuits trying to stop them from praying will only help Perry. Perry's a Christian and I believe Perry is sincere in calling this day of prayer, but he is also looking at the political environment too. Like I said, he's not an idiot.
