SB: Thanks for the reply and for the heads-up...I was indeed referring to Dell. The encroachments of age and too darned much work.

I've missed the give and take of the net, but have had little spare time. The adrenalin level is up and our radar screens are pointed West, watching for the approaching deflation-induced Tsunami. How our markets can ignore the on-going Asian meltdown is beyond me, but it really doesn't matter as deflation tends to be self-reinforcing, once it gets up a head of steam, and this one is exhibiting serious horsepower.

God help the Japanese. They lose another bank (this time a "big ten-city bank")and the central bank is forced to step in and guarantee the writedown costs to avert a nation-wide bank run. This is interpreted as a positive????? Actually I suspect it was mostly frightened short covering that caused the run-up.....time will tell.

Our list of tech sector super shorts grows longer every day now. Hard to make a considered decision when the targets are so bloated. GTW is of course high on the list. The stock buy-back program has held the tide at bay for a longer-than-expected period, but the cash has got to be at a low ebb at this juncture.

Just getting our teeth into CSCO, which is moving up our "hit" parade (lousy but meaningful pun). More later if the work pans out. In the meantime, we sit with bated breath awaiting HWP's numbers. Know and admire the company, but the expectation is insane.

Best, Earlie
