There is massive confusion about this issue being promulgated by those on the Left.

"Default" isn't a result of failing to extend the debt ceiling. It is a result of uncontrolled deficit spending. Increasing the debt ceiling is merely enabling the U.S. to get deeper in debt -- which has never, as far as I'm aware, improved ANYONE's credit rating.

Only in Washington DC, and amongst liberals, is going more deeply into debt considered as improving one's credit worthiness.
