Thanks for the responses. Probably the question should have been how will gold react to a "swan" event, pick your color. Something to keep in mind is that Soros is said to be out of gold and now out of the market or at least liquidating his hedge fund and returning funds to investors. I certainly don't like his politics but I have to respect his investment record. He hasn't just gone to cash or money market instruments, he has sent the money to his investors.
