The Mets may have made the steal of the century yesterday in getting young Zach Wheeler, the Giants best pitching prospect, for the aging Carlos Beltran. Someone is finally understanding that the way to win in spacious Citifield is with pitching and speed. We may have to wait 5-6 years to evaluate this trade properly, but all indicators point to the fact that the Mets may have hit a home run.

What a relief to get rid of Carlos Beltran! The bubble did not burst last night, as many thought it would, as the Mets beat the Reds 8-2, with Lucas Duda, the replacement for Carlos Beltran, hitting a home run.

It is the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. The Mets got exactly what they wanted out of Carlos Beltran here: a top flight young starting pitcher with infinite potential.

I hope the Giants win it all this year because this trade may haunt them for the next 15 years.
