You people are so confused. This process is working precisely as it should. The Rs are using their leverage to force the Ds to agree to huge budget cuts because Congress has been out of control for too long.

1 trillion over ten years is virtually meaningless when faced with a 20+ trillion dollar deficit 10 years hence.
Unfortunately.....I think the Republicans have to pass Boehmer's bill . If the Dem can't pass the Reid bill, Obama will have to accept Boehmer's bill. If the Democrats pass Reid's bill, The Reps should ONLY agree on 4+Trillion in savings (no new revenue beyond that already agreed)) and savings to start immediately over ten years in exchange for the extension of the deal beyond the election. That's the price Obama will have to pay.
