I understand how ball parks can influence results. Yankee Stadium was built with that short right field porch to influence their strong left handed lineups and Fenway Park's Green Monstah has influenced their right handed batting lineups.

I understand that Met fans wanted to see Beltran go and I like the new style of developing young talent and starting with pitching.

I just think it was a stretch to say that the Mets made the steal of the century, which is what some media were saying.

The Mets didn't get anything close to what people were expecting. Some here thought the Yankees, Red Sox and others were going to open their purses to chase Beltran and it didn't happen. Other comments suggested prospects, as in plural and that didn't happen.

The Mets got a good prospect and also had to pay most of Beltran's salary. A far cry from what was initially expected.

At best it was a smart deal, not a steal. Har, har.
