Because they know only the big can do heavy lifting. No Airbus unless Europeans countries gang up together. Minnows can only live off bread crumbs from the feast the big beasts. Could Singapore devise, launch GPS? I like Singapore, the Singaporeans and I have a high respect for them as well as for many minnowlanders such as the Dutch. The idea is to get the highest GDP per person inside a big entity. Economy of scale, critical mass, more bang for the buck. All allow heavy lifting to be done. Look to minnows: Ireland, Iceland, Latvia, Portugal, Greece to see what minnows can do to the big countries. Latvia should alter its IMF program and pursue closer cooperation with Russia, he said.
