The Tea Party hardliners seem to think there would be NO consequences

It would seem so.

But it also occurs to me that it may be that they just don't know their jobs well enough to realize that they don't have the heft to win their war right now, that they have to increase their numbers, control more than just the House, if they want to make a real difference. And that sure won't happen if they continue their antics. Or if they continue to take a pass on much better deals than they could reasonably expect to get.

Are they mistaken about the consequences or their political strength or both? Or do they understand and not care? Maybe they just aren't interested in governance. Maybe they just want to let off steam by blowing things up. Do you have a sense of this?
