How about cutting out the severely abused "Food Stamp" program. At least have the requirements changed rely on assets rather than income.

Until we have no income tax and rely on a VAT style tax the tipping point of 50 % who don't pay federal income tax has been exceeded. The populace can be promised and demand until there is no treasury. The parasites will have killed the host. At least a VAT tax takes money from the underground economy and the wealthy who no longer have taxable income. It takes from all fairly.

I won't complain about lazy assed poor people with 60 plasma TVs if they paid the VAT.
