The idea that the gold comes from point sources and not from granites, or monzonites was solved many years ago. It is also true that they can from the chemistry of the gold tell what kind of source, either lode gold veins, or epithermal deposits it may emanate from. The gold in the Smash Minerals area came from swarms of hydrothermal veins, not epithermal deposits. This has been geochemically established. "SSH is a mystery based on geochems and moderate placer gold, which, if the pundits are right - could be sourced by orogenic, i.e. quartz vein and not epithermal horizons. In general chasing geochems is a very, very good idea. It allows on with some prescience to buy in cheap, as the stock will have life while they chase the targets. Since Roman times geochemistry has been used for gold exploration, and has been a most productive search tool, proven effective right up to today where modern A horizon and B horizon sampling has been practiced."
