that was because some weasels and 117's took out the control radar with harms. so the Migs were blind at night. this underscores that the iraquis had second rate control systems and the yanks had good tier
or role-division strategy. But also it was to take the home aircraft away from ground fire defense which on the mode they had go to (saturation and passive aim fire) would have led to losses of their own craft. also the swarm of coalition craft had massive firepower in a mass attack and nullification of iraqui in-flight radar. so the MIG 29 one on one superiority never came into play. same technique of formation flying the americans used over the superior zero with their p51's and other albatrosses in ww11.
