Good points; I consider myself an investor (and occasional trader) looking for a story. Sometimes reinvesting dividends is the story, sometimes not. AAPL is one of my best investments: no dividend. If I called myself a Dividend Investor I would've missed out Big Time. Like you said, one has to determine what one's priorities are. Mine is making money pure and simple, however I can, and for me diversification is the way: some dividends, some capital gains, some value, some growth, some charting etc. As I get older, though, and the economy seemingly settles deeper into the new normal, dividends have been looking better and better...
