Limerick, PA - November 12, 1997 - Tangent Imaging Systems, a division of Scangraphics, Inc., (NASDAQ: SCNG), a pioneer and leader in large format scanning and imaging software, disclosed today that it has received over $1.2 million in orders from its distributor Sihl GmbH, a subsidiary of The Sihl Group, for its color scanning solution hardware and software products. Sihl has placed over $550,000 in orders since June, 1997.
Sihl GmbH became a Tangent Imaging Systems distributor for the European market in November, 1996 and quickly developed into Tangent's top-performing reseller. European reprographic firms and service bureaus have responded positively to the combination of Sihl's aggressive marketing of efforts and product knowledge and Tangent's product quality and value. With the addition of "Reproworks", Tangent's Windows NT version of its color-matching software unveiled at Reprographie in September, 1997, all Tangent Imaging Systems resellers, including Sihl, are now able to offer Tangent's color scanning solutions to the growing number of Windows NT users, as well as to Unix users, in markets such as reprographics, fine art, and archiving.
An essential ingredient of the Tangent color-matching software is its unique Color Loop Process. This process allows the user to calibrate the scanner/plotter system for specific ink and paper choices and facilitates Tangent's outstanding color capture quality. This capability provides Tangent and its resellers with a significant competitive advantage.
According to Werner Ciupka of Sihl, "As color capture and reproduction become more essential to our target markets, accuracy and color matching performance will become paramount to a company's success. Tangent delivers on every point. This was proven at CeBIT in Hanover and Reprographie in Berlin. The result has been a significant increase in orders. Our German customers tell us that the Tangent name stands for quality in accuracy and color matching performance."
Larry Osterwise, President and CEO of Scangraphics, Inc. stated that, "The performance of fine resellers like Sihl creates interest in our products on a global scale. As interest in Tangent Imaging Systems products rises over the coming months, we look forward to significant growth in 1998".
