It's just what is happening. My designated Nissan dealer just called me today and I told them I was going to hold off buying until December when I could test drive a Ford Focus EV. They told me that's fine, because they are selling every vehicle they have been allocated and that demand far outstrips supply. She also warned me that if I gave up my reservation, which guarantees the online MSRP, then prices will most likely go up when I decide to purchase in Dec without a reservation, because demand is so high. This is exactly what happened with the Prius at first. Demand was far outstripping supply and cars routinely sold higher than MSRP. In fact, there were used vehicles selling for more than new vehicles, because you could get the used one right away versus having to go on a waiting list of new ones. It confirms what I've been reading runaway demand. That's why I think folks on this thread don't really understand the tipping point we've reached. This thing is going to take off, but it will take many years to catch up with ICE cars.
