not many attacks on US since 911 that I know of..

I can personally attest that our actions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other countries, have uncovered numerous plots to strike the US and Europe.

The key to taking out the terrorist network is to decapitate it's operational leadership and financial resources.

But it's also key to recognize that what the current "flavor" of Islamic militancy represents is a civil war within Islam between forces of moderation and fundamentalism. And we have a vested interest in supporting the moderates, especially since they are bearing the brunt of this religious militancy.

Every day we seen instances of atrocities against Muslims committed by the religious militants in order to coerce them into submission. The moderates need to know that they have allies willing to assist them in defending themselves.

And, of course, there are others who see the use of religious dogma as the means of controlling and dominating the masses for the benefit of a corrupt few.

Not any easy answers. But I still believe we have an onus to ensure that the majority of Muslim youth have the opportunity to prosper, not just grow up to wage war upon our children.
