Inode, unlike you, I'm actually a fan of plug-in hybrids. They're "compatible" with existing fueling stations and household electrical outlets.

Only thing is that plug-in hybrids have been around for a while, although mainly as aftermarket upgrades for the Toyota Prius.

The Chevy Volt might be the first mass-market plug-in hybrid, but it sure isn't selling like a mass-market model. At least not yet.

Plus being the first to market doesn't necessarily mean victory. I wonder how many people know that the Toyota Prius isn't exactly the first hybrid that came to the mass market for cars.

That honor, IIRC, goes to the Honda Insight. I remember cause a coworker of mine bought one. Great car, sips fuel by the drop, but it's only a 2-seater.
