have to disagree about the NEC monitors. I have a new 19" Hitachi Super Scan (.22 Dot Pitch) that I would recommend in a minute, but it doesn't hold a candle compared to the sharpness of the picture on my 17" NEC Multisync 5FGp that I have owned for a few years. It has simply the best looking picture of any monitor that I have looked at.

Yes, don't take my word for it....
Computer Shopper and Consumer Reports would also disagree with you.

Picture quality is just one aspect of a good monitor. Longevity is another. ;-)

May I ask why you purchased a new Hitachi instead of a new NEC?
I'm still shopping for my monitor.

Usually when I find a product I like, I stick with it. That's what I did with NEC....and I was disappointed (3D to 5D). BTW the 3D still works, albeit a bit fuzzy. The 5D retired long ago....I replaced it with a Relisys (an inexpensive no-name at the time). Relisys is working fine still.
