Finantial Post: Kazakstan Goldfields Corp. (KGFC/CDN), down 1› to 10›, on volume of 62,000 shares. Central Asia Goldfields Corp. (CGZ/ME), down 2› to 17›, on volume of 17,004 shares.
Kazakstan Goldfields said it has gone to the International Court of Justice in The Hague with a $US28-million claim against the government of Kazakhstan for its unilateral cancellation of the company's contract to manage gold mines held by state-owned JSC Kazakhaltyn.
Goldfields also had an option to acquire those mines, and told the government in April it intended to exercise the option. The contract was ended in August.
Kazakstan has a 75% interest in the project, while Central Asia has a 25% interest.
Kazakstan has traded as high as $11.35 and Central Asia for $3.25 in the past year.
