NEWS: Optima ships GigaBank Raid solution.
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 18, 1997--Optima Technology, a leading provider of storage solutions, Tuesday announced that it is shipping GigaBank RAID solution supporting both Fibre Channel-Arbitrated Loop and Wide Ultra SCSI.
GigaBank RAID subsystems address the needs of data-intensive, mission-critical network systems, providing capacity, performance, reliability and flexibility for network servers, print-on-demand applications and other digital working environments.
Combined with SCSI Inspector, Optima's proprietary configuration and monitoring software, GigaBank is among the most power solutions for fault-tolerant storage. SCSI Inspector can monitor drives both locally, and from a remote location using Windows networking. It also reports power supply, fan failures and over-heating conditions. SCSI Inspector diagnostic capabilities provide full read/write/verify testing and comprehensive error reporting.
In addition, individual drives can be tested without removing drives from the bay. Optima will be showing GigaBank among its other products at COMDEX in Las Vegas on Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at Treasure Island in Meeting Room F.

Wide Ultra SCSI is an established interface that provides up to 40MB/second transfer rates per channel. FC-AL is an exciting new technology that supports up to 200MB/second transfer rates (dual loop).
FC-AL is more rugged than SCSI and allows up to 10 kilometers of serial copper or fiber optic cabling, while maintaining high transfer rates and impeccable data integrity.
Optima's GigaBank is designed from the ground up to provide uninterrupted, fault-tolerant, high-capacity storage. A dedicated hardware controller manages all RAID functions (Levels 0, 1, 3, 5 or 6) while hard drive modules can be hot-swapped for online RAID reconstruction with no performance loss.
Multiple, load sharing power supplies are hot swappable as well. These arrays are completely customizable.
