All I'm saying is that during the property bubble everybody and his grandma was convinced of the "facts" and any dissenting opinions were mainly ignored. The NYT article may have uncovered some evidence of fraud or at least retouching and fudging. Shale gas is real no doubt, but depletion rates are damn important in this kind of business and investors are easy targets.
